PUPPIES

A puppy born at Westdream's will be reared in our everyday life environment. Thus, it will be used to other dogs and cats as well as different objects and sounds. Our puppies will be handled a lot - bathed and blow-dried as well as trained to be stacked and handled on the table. They will of course meet adult humans and children on a regular basis. All of this is done to make your (the new owner) life easier once the puppy has moved into your home.

When you contact us about a puppy we will among other things ask to know more about you, your family and your life situation, what you can offer a puppy, your previous experience in dogs etc. Do you want an active family member and pet or do you have plans to compete or show your dog? These questions are asked not to deter, but rather to ensure that we will be able to select the most suitable puppy for you.

To buy a Westdream's puppy means a contact with us as breeders that lasts the entire puppy's life, and we hope to be informed about the puppy's progress and everyday life. We would like you to activate your puppy somehow - obedience, agility, game tracking, hunting, showing - well, it is up to you.

We will organise puppy reunions in a friendly atmosphere. A sort of get-together where we chat, let our dogs meet their old family, learn about trimming and much more. At the age of 18-24 months of age we would like you to have your dog's hips x-rayed and its eyes clinically tested - this is important to us as a part of the evaluation of the litter. Letting your dog undergo a Mental Description will be much appreciated, too.

It is vital you understand that the Cocker Spaniel is a breed that needs an active life as well as rules and consistency to feel good. An interest in coat care should also be present, since this is a breed whose coat needs regular attention.

We only breed on a small scale, meaning you may have to wait until we have a puppy available. Please contact us by e-mail or telephone, but we will want to meet you in person before making the decision to sell you a puppy. If it feels right for both parties, you will be welcome to see the puppies at 4-5 weeks of age at the earliest. You are welcome to leave a request for a puppy, but we will make the final choice for you. It is vital each puppy end up in the right home. Delivery will be accepted at 8-9 weeks of age. No puppies will be sold on instalments.

Photos and reports on how your puppy is doing in its new home will be much welcome.

Sometimes, we may be looking for suitable breeding homes, contact us if interested.
